Between 2003 and 2012, I helped establish and then was editor of the Gordon H. Brown Annual Art History Lecture series, an invited lecture and publication commissioned by the Art History Programme at Victoria University of Wellington.
With Robert Leonard and Thomasin Sleigh, I selected, compiled and co-edited The Critic’s Part: Wystan Curnow’s Art Writings 1971–2013. This 480-page volume was published jointly in 2014 by the Adam Art Gallery, Victoria University Press, Wellington and the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane.
Between 1988 and 1990, I co-edited six issues of Antic magazine with Priscilla Pitts and Susan Davis. This photocopied journal, founded by Davis, Pitts and Elizabeth Eastmond in 1986, brought a feminist and post-structuralist lens to art and writing in Aotearoa New Zealand, taking its place alongside other experimental publications such as And, Splash and Parallax.
Between 2007 and 2018, with Wystan Curnow and Natasha Conland, I co-edited eight issues of Reading Room: A Journal of Visual Art and Culture published by the E.H. McCormick Research Library at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
During my tenure as director of Te Pātaka Toi Adam Art Gallery (2007–2023) I wrote and/or provided editorial oversight for every press release, wall label, exhibition guide, publication or patrons’ newsletter, a task that established the Gallery’s tone and agenda.
